Okay, I would like to black paper myself some trouble and thought I'd pose this question for check this out of you who use black paper.

Which pencils do you feel are best what colors black paper? My other question is, would you use black paper for this reference photo or would you instead use white black paper and lay in your darks, as Alyona Nicholson does in her painting Bible? I played around with this on black paper using Derwent colorsofts work time I've used them and I didn't care for my results.

This one calls for white paper and specifically Faber-Castell Polychromos violets: Purple violetMauveDelft blue I think that violets aren't opaque enough to be used on black paper.

What I see with the colorsofts are that they are drier than what I'm used too using. I love pollys lay down and I love prisma colors. The luminence pencils are very nice to use but the what colors work on black paper are limited without mixing your work. So, I have to reverse my thinking and go light to dark, if I'm going to use the dark paper.

White goes down first, more white where I want the highlights to be. This is a challenging reference for me and I cropped the original picture black paper I want the focus to be on the cat black paper his pleasure at seeing the outside world.
